In our responsibility program, we have committed to taking responsibility for the environment and people. That’s why we use a diverse range of environmentally friendly energy sources in our operations: bioenergy and hydropower-generated electricity.
In our responsibility goals, we strive to consider the entire life cycle of a product from its manufacturing process to the end of its service life. To achieve this goal, we have made choices regarding energy solutions that enable us to manufacture Weckman steel roofing, structures, and trailers.
Since 2019, Weckman Steel has been using electricity with a certificate of origin, generated by Nordic hydropower. It produces no carbon dioxide emissions and is one of the cleanest and most efficient renewable energy sources.
Currently, two pellet power plants produce bioenergy for heating our factory facilities. Using pellets made from renewable materials for energy production is efficient and low-emission. This allows us to further reduce the need for fossil fuels and promote a circular economy. In addition to the pellet power plants, we have two solar power plants producing bioenergy, which enable us to manufacture Progantti standing seam panels using solar energy during the summer months.
