Composite slabs

Composite slabs for intermediate floors

Composite sheets speed up construction and reduce work stages

Weckman composite sheets are an efficient solution for mezzanine floors in steel and concrete-framed buildings, as well as other composite structures. The sheets function simultaneously as a casting mold and as part of the finished structure, which reduces the number of work stages required on-site and speeds up construction progress.

When a construction project aims for a fast schedule, cost-effectiveness, and reliable structural design, Weckman composite sheets offer a modern alternative to traditional mezzanine floor solutions.

What are composite sheets?

Composite sheets are designed to function as part of a concrete mezzanine floor structure; they act as a casting mold and reinforcement, partially or completely replacing tensile reinforcement. Composite sheets are steel profile sheets that serve as a base for concrete casting and, together with the concrete, form a load-bearing composite structure. The sheet’s embossments ensure concrete adhesion. The best properties of steel and concrete are combined into a structure that is both strong and material-efficient.

Thanks to the composite structure, the mezzanine floor can be implemented more lightly than many traditional solutions while maintaining high load-bearing capacity and a long service life.

Key benefits of composite sheets

A fast and practical construction solution for mezzanine floors

Weckman composite sheets function as a mold during casting, significantly reducing the need for separate formwork structures. During concrete casting, the sheet forms a load-bearing base and structure to which the concrete adheres effectively.

Benefits on-site:

  • fewer work stages
  • faster installation
  • shorter construction times
  • more efficient use of site resources
  • reduced consumption of rebar

When the mezzanine floor is quickly ready for use, other work stages can also proceed sooner.

Less formwork

A fast and practical construction solution for mezzanine floors

In traditional cast-in-place structures, a significant portion of working time is spent building, supporting, and dismantling molds.

With composite sheets:

  • the amount of formwork is reduced
  • site logistical needs are decreased
  • fewer temporary structures are needed on-site

This is reflected in both the schedule and the total costs.

A cost-effective solution

Total construction costs are not made up of material prices alone.

Weckman composite sheets help you save on:

  • working time
  • installation costs
  • formwork costs
  • site overheads

With fewer work stages, construction progresses more predictably and efficiently.

Lightweight yet load-bearing structure

Composite sheets combine the benefits of lightweight steel and strong concrete.

As a result, composite sheets achieve:

  • excellent load-bearing capacity
  • efficient spans
  • structural reliability
  • a material-efficient mezzanine floor solution

Lightweight composite sheets also facilitate transport and installation on-site.

A safer construction site

Once installed, the composite sheet quickly forms a continuous working platform. This simplifies site arrangements and supports safe working during construction.

A well-designed composite sheet structure can reduce the temporary structures and extra work stages needed on-site.

Where are composite sheets used?

Weckman composite sheets are suitable for a wide range of buildings and mezzanine floor structures in both new builds and renovation projects.

  • commercial and retail buildings
  • industrial buildings
  • logistics centers
  • parking facilities
  • public buildings
  • residential buildings
  • office buildings

The solution is particularly suited to projects where construction speed, cost-effectiveness, and structural performance are key objectives.
