Known as a musician, Sipe Santapukki is now also a recognized name among builders, as Sipe’s modern home under construction, Santaranta, is one of the most followed building projects. The Santaranta story is far from traditional. The completed guest house and the main building under construction were designed by American architect Eric Lloyd Wright. Santaranta is the Lloyd Wright family’s only European project. The new building shapes the structure of a honeycomb, and in both buildings the roof form is layered.
“As professionals, we are absolutely delighted with the roof design. The completed guest house roof is magnificent, as if it were floating!” enthuses Mira Weckman.
The building under construction required an intermediate floor structure that combines the best properties of concrete and steel. In practice, this involves a profiled sheet onto which concrete is poured—creating a durable and robust structure.
A Pleasant Collaboration
“I was extremely pleased when Sipe called and we were able to supply composite deck to such a magnificent project.” says Mira Weckman.
Weckman Steel’s Sales Manager Timo Nurminen continues: “The composite deck serves as both formwork and reinforcement, so less additional reinforcement is needed. This makes it a more ecological construction solution. Additionally, the composite deck is manufactured partly from recycled steel, and steel is 100% recyclable.”
Composite Deck for a Dream Home
The construction project required approximately 130 m² of composite deck. Sipe had also chosen Weckman’s composite deck for the future basement band room. “I chose Weckman for several reasons. I had ordered composite deck from them before and it was easy to install. Additionally, the Heinola origin and quality influenced my decision.” Sipe says.

Weckman’s over 60 years of experience as a manufacturer of sheet metal products is evident in every delivery. The Santaranta project is an excellent example of this—high-quality materials and skilled service make construction smooth even when the customer is a busy father and builder.
