The Weckman story dates back to the mid-1700s, when blacksmithing gave rise to the very first Weckman products.

The blacksmithing tradition was carried on from one generation to the next.

The first heated factory hall and unheated storage facilities were built.

Trailers for tractors were built from used truck and bus chassis for agricultural use and timber transport.

Weckmanin Konepaja Oy was founded.

Weckman trailers were exported to, among other places, South America.

Production began on the W-2 profiled sheet, the company’s first roofing profile and still in production today.

Industrial production of tipper trailers began following a cooperation agreement signed with a central trading organization.

Export of tipper trailers began to Sweden, followed later by other Nordic countries and Europe.

Staff housing was built near the factory.

As steel roofing production grew strongly and came to account for an ever larger share of turnover, new production facilities were built, including raw material storage, for roof and wall panel production.

Production began of self-supporting steel frames for agricultural and industrial storage halls.

A marketing company was established in Sweden to promote export sales.

The first robot was introduced for steel component production. Production of composite panels also began the same year.

A profiling plant for roof and wall panels was established in Iisalmi.

Production of tile-profile panels began. Their popularity has remained strong to this day.

On May 23, the company suffered a major disaster when the trailer manufacturing plant was completely destroyed by fire. By November of the same year, the opening of a new, modern trailer factory was already being celebrated.

A majority stake in Levypyörä Oy was acquired. The same year, the company received the national Entrepreneur Award.

Exports grew strongly during the 1990s, and in step with this growth, the company changed its name to Weckman Steel Oy in 1997. The current generation of owners took over through a generational transition.

Weckman delivers customer orders quickly and reliably using its own continuously renewed fleet of transport vehicles.

At the end of the decade, the company was awarded ISO 9001 certification, guaranteeing the high quality of its roof and wall products.

During the 1990s and 2000s, the company carried out several major construction projects at its factory site to expand production and storage facilities.

Production began on the widely popular Elegantti standing seam roof panel.

A solvent incineration plant was built for the paint shop, significantly reducing the company’s climate impact.

A pellet heating plant was built, replacing oil heating in the large factory halls and significantly shrinking the company’s carbon footprint.

As demand continued to grow, the factory has continuously upgraded and expanded its machinery, enabling the production of competitive products.

Weckman Steel Oy turned 50.

Production began on the new self-supporting W-130/950 profile.

An ABB robot was introduced for trailer side panel and component manufacturing.

A new Progantti standing seam line was installed in Vierumäki. A new production line for ridge strips was introduced. The expansion of the trailer fitting-out hall was completed.

Three new welding robots were introduced for trailer manufacturing. A new Progantti standing seam production line was installed at the Iisalmi factory. New eco-friendly Greencoat coatings were introduced for roofing products.

Weckman Group’s JHW-Profiles factory in Germany received eight new production lines.

Design began on a new trailer range based on sustainability and efficiency. Insulated halls became a standard product in the hall product range.

2020 The company’s entire ERP system was renewed. The largest single hall delivery to industry in Weckman Steel Oy’s history.

A new production line for steel purlins was introduced. A redesigned trailer range launched on the market.

60th anniversary year.
