Weckman’s adaptable building
Adaptability is a key part of functional, sustainable building design. By enabling buildings and structures to be reused, adaptability reduces construction waste and the environmental impact of new building—outcomes that can be significantly influenced already at the design stage. Adaptability also supports modularity, allowing the building to be easily reconfigured for different purposes simply by moving partition walls.
A building made from Weckman’s steel elements can be easily dismantled, as bolted connections—including foundation joints—ensure straightforward disassembly. This makes it easier to resell the building or re-erect it elsewhere compared to buildings made of wood or concrete.

Steel as a building material
Steel is a durable material. When used correctly, it ensures a long service life for the finished building. Weckman’s steel buildings have a technical service life of at least 50 years.
Steel’s standout quality is undoubtedly its high strength, which sets it apart from other building materials such as brick, concrete, and wood. Steel components are also lightweight compared to, for example, concrete. A surface-treated steel structure neither releases nor absorbs impurities or moisture.
Steel is also an environmentally friendly building material, as it is increasingly produced with carbon neutrality and is 100% recyclable. Major steel manufacturers aim to produce 100% carbon-neutral steel in the near future.
The quality of Weckman’s steel structures is ensured through design carried out in Finland in accordance with Eurocodes, and manufacturing certified to EN 1090. A durable, multi-purpose building
Thanks to its modular structure, Weckman’s custom-built buildings are versatile and therefore built to last. Adaptability means that a Weckman building’s use is never limited by its existing structure or size—the size and functions of a completed building can be modified later as needed.
As your needs change, a steel-framed building can be

– equipped with additional tall and wide door openings and windows.
The building’s dimensions can be planned according to its intended use. Weckman’s steel purlins allow for long spans, making it possible to fit door openings even for large machinery along the building’s longer wall. Offices and staff facilities can also be included as part of a complete Weckman building.
Weckman’s CE-marked, lightweight sandwich panels can be used to create an insulated partition wall in a finished building, dividing the space into a cold and a heated section.

Custom-built buildings
Metsä Group built the world’s most modern sawmill in Rauma. Heinolan Sahakoneet supplied the sawmill’s drying kilns and the associated load transfer equipment. Weckman delivered the covered steel structures for Heinolan Sahakoneet’s project—an extensive building roughly “the size of a few football fields.”

A broad selection of accessories is available for these buildings, and the delivery package can include foundations, doors, windows, roof safety products, and rainwater systems.

Padel, for example, has become hugely popular in Finland, and in response Weckman has developed its own cost-effective building concept that meets the height and width requirements of the game. We’re involved in projects ranging from smaller buildings with just a few courts to larger sports centers with as many as ten courts.
Industrial building
Industrial buildings are delivered fully customized to the customer’s needs. The building can include, for example, office and staff facilities. In addition to the building package, customers can order foundations, overhead doors, entry doors, windows, roof safety products, and rainwater systems from Weckman. On request, everything can also be delivered fully installed.
